26th International Boat Show in Cannes.

The 26th International Boat Show in Cannes has started on 10.09.03 and lasted 5 days. Traditionally all the show was organized in the Old Port of Cannes. The major part of exhibition was dedicated to motor yachts and sailing vessels.
As far as our company specializes on motor yachts, so we’ll look on this boat show from our point of view and we will concentrate on motorboats.
Among the participants have been presented all the leaders of motor yacht’s producing. The complete fleet on water have presented the following companies: Azimut, Feretti, Rodriges Group, Sunseeker, Failine, Sealine. Other big companies (Amer, Astondoa, Canados, Dtrettman-Elegance, Maiora, Princess, Falcon and others) have presented only 1-4 boats.
9.09.03 it was really rainy and windy, and it was for nothing a good weather for boat show. But 10.09.03 the weather has changed, as if the administrators of the show have ordered it in some way. So, thanks to good weather and good organization of the show, visitors could enjoy looking at the yachts, they have never seen before. And there have been exhibited a lot of interesting models.
The amateurs of yachting were looking at “cheap” boats (350- 990 thousands euro) 12 – 16 meters. This category of yachts has been presented in better way by such famous companies as Sealine, Azimut, Searay and Rodman. Professional users were concentrated on “middle class” yachts (1 – 2,5 millions euro) 17 - 20 meters, presented by Azimut, feretti, fairline, Sunseeker. And professionals and crazy about yachts people were looking at 20 - 25 meters yachts with price 2,5 – 6 millions euro.
I could compare different models and analizing them I can say: after examining 24m Amer, 2 models from Maiora, 22 m Elegance-Drettman, the conclusion is following: Italians are the best designers and know how to use in the most useful manner the space on board. Maiora and Elegance – are yachts of the same class, but Maiora is more elegant and luxurious. Elegance is made partly in Taiwan, but of course all the communications and electronics are made according to German standards. And price, comparing with Italian boats, is much more lower.
Mega yachts (from 30 m) have not been presented on the exhibition.
Let us talk about “Open” yachts, so called V – type. European market of yachts is oriented on open motor yachts (for 1 day cruising and for long trips). That’s why this show was full of small boats (5m – 10m), middle size boats (Targa line from Fairline, Camarga and predator from Sunseeker), and bigger size boats (Mangusta and Leopardo from Rodriges Group).
As usual among exhibitors have been companies Volvo, Caterpillar, МАN, МТU, Arnelson, and other companies that specializes ion accessories and engines.
Before choosing a yacht and buying it – try to get as much information as possible from all the resources. Think what are you going to use this yacht for? For individual cruising, family trips, for business trips, for sports and leisure on water. You have also to think about garage for it, crew and where are you going to put in for the winter period, in what country.
