Cesme — means «fountain» in Turkish. This region is called so because of its rich water resources. Fortress, founded in 14th century by citizens of Genova, was reconstructed and enlarged in period of Ottomans Imperia (16th century), and nowadays — Cesme is a small seaport. Annual International Festival of Music is held here in July.
